Meeting held at Tristan's place - Melbourne.
Meeting opened at 8:00pm
Those present:
Shane Cubis (President)
Robert Stephenson (Returning Officer)
Craig Sedgwick (Secretary)
- Discussed possibility of there being a Wollongong tournament - aiming
for 2002. Currently having at least seven people attending weekly social
games. Exec to investigate running as either the Don in the 'Gong - in
place of the Don in Victoria, or in place at the ACT Champs. Will be
reviewing the running of both these tournaments this year (2001).
- Rob gave an update on the WDC2002 at this stage and plans for future.
- Rob gave (extensive) handover of outstanding DAANZ matters concerning
the President to Shane. This included outline of regular Presidential
duties and responsibilities.
- Rob to send final committees that were decided on to Cuby! Shane to
then put them on ozdip and have those committees report directly to him.
He
can then follow up on committees and make sure they all doing there
respective tasks
- Rag update on production of next issue. Secretary to follow up with
Chris Smoother (production) and Bill Brown (content) to get next issue
out ASAP.
- Discussion of Wollongong Diplomacy Club (specifically) and social dip
clubs in general, regarding use of words like 'affiliation' to indicate
ties to DAANZ. Executive agreed that the use of terms that indicated a
link to the DAANZ would generally be of benefit to both the club and the
DAANZ and so are encouraged. No indication should be given, however,
that might indicate any legal relationship between the club and the
DAANZ (ie for insurance issues).
- The current status of the Wollongong, Sydney and Victorian Diplomacy
Clubs was reviewed.
- The owener of a games producer (Wormhole games) participated at VDC
over the weekend and indicated a willingness to include a link the DAANZ
homepage on his website. Rob to follow up.
- 'Pub crawl' games of Diplomacy. The executive would like to encourage
members to consider having the occasional social game in a public venue
- ie a pub. This has had some success in the NZ hobby and is not only a
good recruitment tool, it can also add to the social side of the game.
Note - the venue does not need to be a place where alcohol is consumed -
this was merely one suggestion.
- Discussion with incoming president of banking procedures for DAANZ
funds.
- Discussion of sourcing of official DAANZ rubber stamp. Rob and Shane
to follow up.
- Rob outlined his discussions DAANZ players held recently in Auckland,
regarding the NZ hobby. The NZ Diplomacy Association was one subject
covered, where Rob described how it tied in with the DAANZ, and is
focused on developing the NZ hobby.
- Discussion of Bismark Cup points on tied positions. The exec decided
that Andrew Goff is going to use a tiebreak to seperate players for the
Bismark Cup. We believe it is better to leave players in tied positions.
We felt it is harsh to separate players when they manage to get the same
amount of centres and don't see why we need to seperate them.
- Rob advised he is now reviewing the Dip Duel tournament held in
conjunction with VDC for inclusion in WDC 2002.
Meeting closed at 11:05pm.
