Minutes of Exec meeting held 08/04/04 at St Kilda, Victoria.

Present: Tristan Lee, Sean Colman and Craig Sedgwick

Meeting opened: 11:30am

- Tristan gave update on Mind Sports Olympiad. Recent meeting held with Rob Hadley, Tristan and David Cordover (Mind Sports organiser). There will be a further meeting of organisers on the 18/04 to discuss many aspects of the event, including cost of entry, accom packages, venues available. Tristan is planning on attending. The issue that was raised on ozdip of these tournaments typically having a high cost of entry will be raised at this meeting.

- Edi Birsan sent some of the hobby an email, a reminder that we need to consider if we want to hold WDC in the coming years. And if so that we will need to get it represented soon. Edi suggested we might look at 2006 or 2008, but the Exec think we might be better prepared aiming at 2008 or 2010.IF THERE IS SOMEONE OUT THERE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN BIDDING FOR A WDC OR RUNNING A WDC PLEASE ADVISE THE EXEC. Consider also that it could be held in either Aust or NZ.

- DAANZ to purchase banner. Purpose would be to advertise where a tournament was taking place and to promote the DAANZ. Banner would be something in the size of 1.5m W x 2.0m H, and would come with it's own collapsable stand so that it would not need to be tied up to something. The Exec propose a budget of $400, and will raise for discussion at AGM. If the response is positive Tristan will source with assistance of Sean (both already have contacts in this area).

- Reduction of Player Levy. Exec agreed to reduce the levy to $2 per non-DAANZ player at a tournament, and no charge for all DAANZ members. We see this as a good incentive to join the DAANZ, as well as a lessor burden on tournament organisers.

- In connection with the above, the Exec will no longer be waiving affiliation fee's for tournament organisers.

- The Exec have also introduced a new system which we hope will encourage new players along to tournaments. The DAANZ will pay up to AU$10 per round for a maximum of $30 for a tournament towards any new players entry fee into the tournament. The definition of a new player for this benefit is someone who does not have a Masterpoints ranking prior to that tournament. This incentive is given on the basis that the Tournament Organiser advertises the discounted price for new players prior to the tournament taking place. Tournament Organisers will be able to deduct this amount from their affiliation fee's otherwise due, and if there is still a balance owing then the DAANZ will forward the balance to the TD. Depending on the success or otherwise of this plan, and the amount of money available to the DAANZ this may or may not be a long-term program. Let's call it a trial.

- Discussion on recognising people for their contribution to the hobby. Tristan has suggested we have the option of making people life members of the DAANZ. The rest of the Exec agree it is a worthwhile reward.

12:15pm - meeting adjourned for "Salt 'n' Pepper Squid", "Porterhouse Steak" and a "Margarita Pizza"....."Ahhhh, life is good" one of the Exec was heard to mutter.

12:45pm - meeting recommenced.

- Photo's on website. Previously the Exec had sort input from Will and John Cain as to the possibility of placing photo's from each tournament on the DAANZ website. The feedback we received was basically that we would soon be running out of room, and we would once again move into a higher pricing bracket. So after a little discussion the Exec agreed we will ask John and Will to just make a space for one photo. We would like the photo to be a snapshot of the latest tournament and to be kept as current as possible. As a secondary path, Sean advised us we could have a link to GEOCITIES to host a website dedicated to Dip photo's. This can be done for no cost. Naturally this would REQUIRE A VOLUNTEER TO ADMINISTER THE SITE. IF YOU ARE THAT PERSON PLEASE ADVISE THE EXEC.

Meeting closed at 1:00pm.
